The Bali to Komodo Challenge is B2K's flagship tour — the one we've been running since 2018 and the one riders mention when they talk about the best motorcycle trip of their lives. It takes you from Bali's spiritual heart, across the Lombok Strait, through the raw volcanic landscape of Sumbawa, and finally onto the prehistoric shores of Komodo. You ride roads most travellers never reach. You take ferries between islands with your bike. You watch Komodo dragons in the wild. And you do it all on two wheels, with a team that has covered every kilometre of this route dozens of times.
1,000+ riders have completed this route with B2K. Our average rating is 4.9 stars. The most common feedback: "I didn't think Indonesia could be this good."
The Route — 12 Days Across 4 Islands
The route begins in Denpasar and ends with a flight back from Labuan Bajo. Between those two points you cross four distinct islands, each with its own landscape, culture and road character.
Denpasar → Seminyak · Bali
Arrival day. Meet the group, inspect the bikes, briefing dinner. The adventure starts tomorrow.
Seminyak → Tejakula · Bali · 150 km
North Bali coastal road. Rice terraces, black sand beaches, the quieter side of the island.
Tejakula → Ubud · Bali · 90 km
Through the volcanic highlands and into Ubud. Temple roads and jungle descents.
Ubud → Senggigi · Lombok · 150 km + ferry
First island crossing via Padangbai. The ferry ride with the bikes is an experience in itself.
Senggigi → Gili Trawangan · Lombok · 20 km
Short ride to the port, boat transfer to Gili T. Rest day. The Gilis are car-free — no riding today.
Gili T → Sambelia · Sumbawa · 120 km
East Lombok to Sumbawa. The roads open up. Traffic disappears. This is where the riding gets serious.
Sambelia → Sekongkang · Sumbawa · 120 km
Cross Sumbawa's southern coast. Empty tarmac, ocean views, almost no other vehicles.
Sekongkang → Moyo Utara · Sumbawa · 200 km
The longest riding day. Volcanic interior roads, changing landscapes every hour.
Moyo Utara · Rest Day + Whale Sharks
Rest day at Moyo. Snorkelling with whale sharks if the season is right. The Deluxe package includes a helicopter flight over the volcano.
Moyo Utara → Bima · 260 km
The big day. Full Sumbawa crossing. Arrives at Bima for the final island ferry.
Bima → Komodo / Labuan Bajo · 50 km
Arrive in Flores, ride to Labuan Bajo. Komodo dragon tour in the afternoon. Celebration dinner.
Labuan Bajo → Denpasar · Flight home
Flight back to Bali. The bikes go home by ferry. You go home with a story.

The Bikes
You'll ride one of three bikes depending on your size and riding style:
- Kawasaki Versys 250 — The default choice. Recommended for riders over 100 kg or those sharing a bike with a pillion.
- Honda CB 150X — For solo riders under 100 kg. Lightweight and nimble, perfect for Bali's mountain roads.
- Kawasaki KLX 250 — Offroad specialist. Available on request for riders who want to take the dirt tracks.
All bikes are maintained by our mechanic and fully serviced before each tour. The group is capped at 12 bikes maximum, which keeps it personal and manageable on narrow roads.
Who Is This For?
This is listed as Intermediate difficulty. You need to be a confident rider on unfamiliar roads — not a professional, but not a beginner. If you've ridden in Europe or North America for 2+ years and are comfortable on medium-distance days (100-150 km), you're ready.
Most riders in our groups are in their 30s and 40s, from Europe, the UK, Australia and North America. Some have done guided tours before. Some haven't. The common thread is that they want a proper adventure, not a tourist package.
